We are thrilled to announce our choreographers for the 2015 Performance Series!
Melanie Aceto holds her MFA in dance from NYU Tisch School for the Arts. Her works have been presented across the country and internationally in Toronto, Guatemala, and Germany. She has been presented at Jacob’s Pillow, REVERB dance festival and is the director of her own company in NYC, Melanie Aceto Contemporary Dance.
Aaron Atkins performed with Columbia City Ballet, Ballet Savannah, and was one of the founding company members of Ballet Hispanico’s 2nd company, BH Dos. In 2012, he started his own company, Ballet Inc., located in NYC. Ballet Inc. is critical acclaimed; “Hard-hitting..Powerful.. Beautiful and Sensual” – BroadwayWorldDance
Annielille Kollman was a company member of Dallas Black Dance Theater and Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble. She has self-produced two shows in Richmond and choreographed works for Latin Ballet of Virginia and her own company, MalayaWorks Dance Theater.
Kim Linenkohl was Dance Canvas’ 1st “Drawing Board” choreographer in 2013-14. She received her training with the Joffery Ballet School and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater School. She was a soloist with The Georgia Ballet for 7 years.
Britt Whitmoyer holds her MFA from University of Michigan. Britt danced with Mariana Beckerman Dance Company in NYC before starting her own contemporary dance company, “bnw: dance”, which was based in NYC & Chicago and toured throughout the country.
And setting new pieces in 2014-15 are returning choreographers:
Angela Harris the Artistic Director of Dance Canvas is presenting a fourth work for the series. Angela performed soloist roles with the Georgia Ballet, Urban Ballet Theater, Columbia City Ballet & Ballet Savannah. Besides ballet, she also has choreographed two professional musical productions at Fabrefaction Theater in Midtown Atlanta and presented her ballets at 2 NYC premieres at STEPS on Broadway.
Lonnie Davis returns to Dance Canvas to present a fourth work for the mainstage, Lonnie danced with Dallas Contemporary Dance Company, Wylliams/Henry Contemporary Dance Company, and was the dance captain for Royal Caribbean Entertainment for many years. Lonnie is on faculty at Atlanta Ballet and several dance academies across Georgia.
Dana Woodruff returns to present her second work with Dance Canvas. Dana holds her MFA from NYU Tisch School for the Arts. She has danced with Joyce Tristler Danscompany in NYC, and currently is a professor at Kennesaw State University. Dana is also the Professional Programs Coordinator for Dance Canvas.
